Cyrene
Although this is one of the most important places of the ancient times in
Libya, there are only limited sites. Cyrene is one of the Greek cities with
less Roman influences, which is for instance reflected in the fact, that
you can find different temple complexes, in which Greek gods were worshiped.
Mainly you find magnificent buildings of the upper-class. These villas provide
an insight into different tendencies of ancient architecture in this time.
The most interesting site is probably the extensive complex of a necropolis
near the city.
